Hormones, diet, stress, skincare routines, the weather…there are so many things that can affect your skin. Whether you suffer from acne, get the occasional spot, or just want to take better care of your skin, here are some tips to keep your face looking fresh, clear and vibrant:
- Don’t overdo it when it comes to skincare. The more simple your routine, the better. Opt for a gentle facewash, toner and moisturiser.
- Every couple of weeks, use a face scrub instead of your usual facewash to get rid of dead skin cells. You can follow this with a face mask to clean out blocked pores.
- Limit your intake of sugar, fried foods and caffeine as these can aggravate the skin and cause you to break out – you don’t need to cut these out completely, but try to stick to one caffeinated drink or one sugary snack in a day. It’s all about balance!
- Keep your makeup brushes and sponges clean by washing them regularly with water and soap or shampoo. Also make sure that you throw away any expired makeup – most makeup items have a symbol showing how many months you should use them for, from the day you open them.
- Stay hydrated, both from the inside (drink plenty of water) and the outside (by using a hydrating moisturiser).
- The most common rule in the book: take off all your makeup before going to bed. Your skin needs to breathe!
